Scooters can also be risky with their windy roads and the locals who drive… fast. Unless you are already comfortable on two wheels, this may not be the best place to learn to ride a scooter.
Santorini's roads are narrow, with a lot of gravel. Not to mention that the locals drive fast and carelessly. If you are not used to riding a motorbike or a scooter, this is not the right place to start. If you want to have fun while staying safe, I advise you to go for a quad without too much power. You will not go too fast while being more stable and less at risk than on a motorbike.

While in most of Greece the tap water is drinkable, that is not the case in Santorini. Our hotel warned us not to drink from the tap, and it is written in most of the restaurants and establishments we saw.
But I did not think much of it and kept using tap water to brush my teeth. To my great surprise, I got badly sick shortly afterwards.
So whether it is for drinking or brushing your teeth, it is better to be cautious and use bottled water in Santorini. Believe me, you do not want to fall victim to an unexpected stomach problem during your holiday. Play it safe in Santorini and keep a supply of bottled water on hand. I also advise you to have health insurance like Chapka as well.
The dangers of the sun in Santorini
When you think of a tropical paradise, images of crystal-clear waters, white-sand beaches and endless sunshine may come to mind. Well, if you are after the ultimate sunny adventure, then Santorini is the place for you! This Greek island is known for its hot summers and endless sunshine. Which makes it the ideal destination for those looking to soak up the sun.
But beware, the sun in Santorini can be incredibly intense. Bring a hat, sunglasses and apply SPF 50 sunscreen several times a day. Whether you are riding a scooter or sailing on a boat, the sun can easily leave its mark on you. Above all, stay hydrated and protected. And if the heat is not your thing, consider a visit during the shoulder season or low season when temperatures are more bearable.
Beware of animals in Santorini – Safety
Say hello to Fido and Fluffy! As you wander around Santorini, you may come across a few furry friends, but do not worry. The island is not overrun with stray animals like some other parts of Greece.
But as always, better safe than sorry. If you come into contact with a friendly feline, make sure to wash your hands afterwards.
